An exciting tourism and lifestyle project is a step closer after receiving Commonwealth Government funding in October.
The Townsville Marine Tourism Precinct is a proposal for a new ferry terminal, transport and tourism hub at the Breakwater Terminal. This would allow for an expansion of services from the city to the Great Barrier Reef, Magnetic Island and Palm Island.
The project has been given a significant boost, with $15 million in funding provided. SeaLink, the existing provider of Magnetic Island and Palm Island ferry services, is working with Honeycombes Property Group to develop the project. The project would be located at the existing terminal site, upgrading and expanding the current ageing facilities, including growing its capacity in order to handle more passengers.
They are working towards delivering the new precinct by the middle of 2020.
