11 September 2017

Two of the major developments expected to transform North Queensland’s economy have reached significant milestones over the last month.
The Townsville CBD Stadium celebrated its turning of the sod in mid-August as the construction process officially began. 90 local businesses have now been engaged for work on the project, with the significant investment beginning to flow through the Townsville economy. 450 direct jobs are expected to be created from the construction process by June next year.
The Adani Carmichael Coal Mine has reached a significant milestone, announcing that construction will begin by October. The company has already set up corporate headquarters locally. Stage 1 of the project will see construction of a rail line, on-site airport, access roads and an upgrade of the mining camp.
Up to 1,500 employees are expected to be employed by the middle of next year.
